How to Register a TOTP Code

What you need:

The Castle mobile app installed and logged in with an Admin account.

The QR code for the TOTP credential you want to add — typically displayed during the 2FA setup screen of the platform you are securing.

Important

Most platforms only display the QR code once during 2FA setup. Make sure you are ready to scan it into Castle before proceeding. If you miss the window, you will need to reset and regenerate a new TOTP secret on that platform.

Adding a Resource

Open the Castle mobile app and navigate to the Resources section. Tap Add Resource and enter a descriptive name for the resource — this is how it will appear to all members in their app (e.g. Station70 — Operations Account).

When prompted, use the camera on your device to scan the QR code from the originating platform. Castle will capture the TOTP secret automatically. Verify the live code displayed in Castle matches the current code on the originating platform to confirm the secret was captured correctly.

Configure the access setting for this resource — choose Instant Access or Requires Approval. See Setting Up Access Policies for more detail.

Save the resource. It will now appear on the Resources page in the web app and be available to assign to members and groups.
