Registering a TOTP Code: Creating a Resource

Before you begin

The Castle mobile app must be installed, the device registered with an enterprise, and the member logged into the Castle mobile app.

Important

Most platforms only display the QR code or secret key once during 2FA setup. Make sure you are ready to scan it into Castle before proceeding. If you miss the window, you will need to reset and regenerate a new TOTP secret on that platform.

Adding a Resource

Open the Castle mobile app and navigate to the Resources section. Tap the plus button + in the upper right and scan the QR code. The Castle mobile app automatically extracts the name and username from the QR code (if the service provides this information). Edit the name, username, and description.

Use Share Access and Require Approval panels to set the access policy for this resource. If no access policy is set, the resources is a Personal resource, and will only be accessible to the member creating it. Enterprise admins can change the access policy for all resources, including Personal resources.

Press Add Resource and the current TOTP code is displayed. Most services require one to confirm the TOTP code before completing TOTP registration. Enter this code into the service and press Done to save the resource.

If the resource is a shared resource, the member creating it will lost the ability to edit the resource access policy. Only admins can edit the policy for shared resources.

The resources  will now appear on the Resources page in the web console and the resources page of the mobile app for all members in the access or approval list.
