Connecting Gatekeeper to Microsoft Copilot

Connecting Gatekeeper to Microsoft Copilot lets you use Gatekeeper's tools from Copilot Chat and Teams. Gatekeeper acts as a gateway: once Copilot is connected to it, Copilot can reach the other services you've connected in Gatekeeper and run their tools, the same way you would from Claude.

Before You Start

You'll need:

  • Access to Copilot Studio with your Microsoft work account
  • Your Gatekeeper MCP URL (the gateway address you connect clients to)
  • The services you want to use already connected in Gatekeeper

Note: Building and publishing the agent can take several minutes. That's normal, so don't close the page while it's working.

Step 1: Create an Agent

  1. Go to Copilot Studio
  2. Select Agent

Note: Choose Agent, not Workflow. Workflows are for automated processes and won't let you chat with Gatekeeper.

Step 2: Name and Describe Your Agent

  1. Give your agent a name (for example, Gatekeeper Agent)
  2. In Instructions, tell the agent what Gatekeeper is and how to use it

You can use this as a starting point:

Gatekeeper is an MCP gateway to other MCP servers. Connect to Gatekeeper through MCP, then use it to sign in to other services and run their tools.

Step 3: Add Gatekeeper as a Tool

  1. In the agent's settings panel, find Tools and click +
  2. Add a new MCP server and enter your Gatekeeper MCP URL
  3. Complete the sign-in when prompted, then wait for the connection to finish

Once it's connected, Gatekeeper appears under Tools. This step can take several minutes.

Step 4: Choose a Channel and Publish

  1. Under Channels, click + and select Teams + Microsoft 365
  2. Click Publish

We recommend Teams + Microsoft 365 so you can use the agent from both Teams and Copilot Chat. Publishing can take several minutes.

Step 5: Start Using Your Agent

  1. Open Copilot Chat (app or website)
  2. Go to Agents and find your agent under Your agents
  3. Open it and send a message

Try asking: "Which services can you access through Gatekeeper?" to confirm everything is connected.

Troubleshooting

Don't see your agent in Copilot Chat? Publishing can take several minutes. Wait a bit, then refresh. If it's still missing, check that you selected the Teams + Microsoft 365 channel and published the agent.

Agent can't reach a service? Make sure that service is connected in Gatekeeper. Copilot can only use services you've already connected there.
